Comrade Samuel Messiah Eze Elected SUG President at Nnamdi Azikiwe University

STUDENT UNION LEADERSHIP TRANSITION MARKS NEW CHAPTER FOR UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY

Comrade Samuel Messiah Eze from the Department of Building, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, has been elected as the President of the Students Union Government (SUG) for Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik) Awka, Anambra State, for the 2023/24 academic session.

The announcement was made by Professor Makodi Biereenu-Nnabugwu, the Dean of the Student Affairs Unit and the returning officer for the election. Eze secured a decisive victory with a total of 1,354 votes, surpassing his competitors in the race. Solomon Omachionu Offor from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension received 1,111 votes, while Emmanuel Ezechukwu from the Department of Philosophy garnered 154 votes.

The election, held virtually on August 23, 2024, saw a significant voter turnout, reflecting strong engagement from the student body. The election monitoring room at the Students Affairs Unit reported a high number of votes cast, highlighting the interest and participation in the democratic process.

Comrade Eze’s win marks a new chapter for the SUG, with expectations for his leadership and contributions to the student community.
