The Rivers State Government is preparing to collaborate with DESGOL Entertainment Group Worldwide to empower local youths. This partnership is in anticipation of the second edition of the Rivers State International Film Festival, slated for October 24-27, 2024. The government has committed to providing free medical services, capacity-building workshops, and skill acquisition programs to residents, particularly those in Nollywood.

The festival has garnered an impressive 2,297 entries from 220 countries, as stated by the organizers.

During a recent courtesy visit by DESGOL Entertainment Group to Governor Siminalayi Fubara at Government House in Port Harcourt, the governor expressed enthusiasm for the initiative. “We are thrilled to host this festival for the second time in Rivers State. The creative industry holds a special place in our hearts. After a long day, there’s nothing better than relaxing with a good movie, and this festival will provide just that. It’s a program focused on youth and will greatly benefit the people of Rivers State.”

Governor Fubara also extended a warm invitation to visitors, saying, “We look forward to welcoming people from around the world to experience the cultural richness and hospitality of Rivers State.”

Kate Ezeigbo, the Founder and Director of the Rivers International Film Festival, praised the governor’s support and leadership. She noted, “This festival will help reshape the narrative about our state. Each October, as entertainers converge here, they will witness firsthand that Rivers State is a place of peace, hard work, and intelligent youths ready to make their mark globally.”
