Joyce Meyer and her family have received God\’s mercy, grace, and favor. These images symbolize love, unity, patience, and growth.

When asked in an interview how her marriage had survived the years, she responded as follows:

Her marriage to Dave, she claims, is a solid and vibrant tie.

I think it’s successful because we stopped trying to change each other. And I think it’s successful because we’re both committed to doing what we believe God would want us to do.

I remember years ago when Dave and I shook hands and I looked at him and said, “I accept you the way that you are,” and he looked at me and said, “I accept you the way that you are.” That was the beginning of us having longevity in our relationship.

What advice would you give to a couple who has been having difficulties in their marriage?

A: You know, Dave and I went through some really difficult times. I think that in every relationship, it’s easy to give up—it’s easy to say we cannot make this work.

But you can go to God and say, “What do you want me to do to make this situation better?” Sometimes you have to treat a person right for a long time before you start to reap in the field that you’ve been sowing in.

If I do what’s right and that never satisfies the other person and they decide they want to do something else, there’s nothing I can do about that. But I’m going to do what’s right by the grace and mercy of God and let Him do what only He can do.

Joyce Meyer, who is mostly known for her TV show “Enjoying Everyday Life,” recently sat down to discuss her marriage success despite having a painful past, and the keys to having a healthy relationship. Watch video.

Joyce and Dave Story

Joyce was sexually molested by her own dad for “at least 200 times” when she was growing up, her testimony has served as a source of inspiration and encouragement to those struggling to find hope, telling them that recovery is always possible no matter the past challenges.

Dave, her loving husband, who is an engineering draftsman and army veteran, is the vice president of Joyce Meyer Ministries and has worked in full-time ministry for nearly 30 years, according to sources online. Joyce, 78, has often said that without her husband’s wisdom and stewardship in finance and administration, Joyce Meyer Ministries which includes Hand of Hope, wouldn’t be what it is today.

Joyce Meyer explained that when she first heard God’s call to go into the ministry, Dave wasn’t on board with her decision. However, she decided to pursue her calling and let God take care of Dave.

Meyer said that only three weeks later, Dave came to her and said he realized that she had an anointing in her life to do, and he’d have her back with whatever decision she made.

Immediately, Meyer started a bible study group that began with a few ladies from her work and rapidly grew into a group of up to 500 people from her church. She also started her radio show.

It took five years for the Meyer family to start their own ministry called Life in the World. It was Dave’s idea to start a TV show, “Everyday Life,” in the early ’90s. The couple has over 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
