Former Lawmaker Calls on Tinubu to Address Fuel Scarcity as Nigerians Suffer

President Bola Tinubu

OLATUNBOSUN OYINTILOYE APPEALS FOR PRESIDENTIAL INTERVENTION AS NIGERIANS ENDURE SEVERE HARDSHIP

Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, has called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action to resolve the ongoing fuel scarcity affecting Nigeria. In a statement released on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye highlighted the severe impact of the fuel crisis on Nigerians, emphasizing that the situation requires urgent presidential intervention.

Oyintiloye expressed frustration over the daily hardships faced by Nigerians, who are not only dealing with general economic difficulties but are also forced to endure long queues at fuel stations. He noted that despite the Federal Government’s removal of the fuel subsidy, the situation has worsened rather than improved, with fuel now being sold at exorbitant prices and many stations running dry.

The APC chieftain pointed out that the scarcity of fuel has become a daily struggle for Nigerians, who are often forced to sleep at filling stations in an attempt to secure fuel for their vehicles and businesses. He urged President Tinubu to investigate the activities of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to uncover the underlying causes of the persistent fuel shortages.

Oyintiloye also suggested that revitalizing Nigeria’s four refineries could significantly alleviate the fuel crisis. He stressed that the burden of the current fuel scarcity is becoming unbearable for the masses and called for the President’s immediate action to address the situation and end the severe hardship experienced by many Nigerians.

  • Current Situation: Fuel shortages have led to long queues and inflated prices at filling stations across Nigeria.
  • Impact on Nigerians: Many citizens are facing extreme hardship, with some resorting to sleeping at stations to obtain fuel.
  • Government Response: Oyintiloye criticized the removal of fuel subsidies, which he believed was supposed to improve the situation but has instead exacerbated the problem.
  • Proposed Solution: Oyintiloye advocates for the revamping of Nigeria’s refineries as a long-term solution to the fuel scarcity.

Oyintiloye’s statement reflects growing public frustration with the fuel crisis and underscores the need for effective government intervention to mitigate the ongoing challenges.
