Police Operation Rescues Kidnapped Students
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, announced a successful operation that led to the rescue of 20 medical students from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos. The students were abducted on August 15 while en route to a convention in Enugu.

- Governor’s Encouragement: Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, represented by Commissioner Michael Oglegba, urged the students to overcome their ordeal and excel in their studies. He acknowledged the improved security situation in the state and expressed gratitude to all who supported the rescue operation.
- Parents’ Gratitude: John Enger, speaking on behalf of the parents, expressed deep gratitude for the safe return of their children and for the efforts of all involved in their rescue.
